<DIV>With almost zero time to dedicate to robot building before this contest,
but plenty of time spent in the past, I had fun racing to get something
operational within a few hours before the contest. I have Mark Sims to
thank for finding me an electrical outlet at the outdoor contest. My robot,
using fixed point arithmetic, was scaled for distance = 1/256,000th of an inch
which cause a bit of a problem when asking to drive 100 feet. So I was
able to make some changes last minute that yielded me 2nd Place in
challenge #1, wow! That type of thing has never worked for me in the
past. </DIV></DIV>

<DIV>I don't think I could do any better than echo Dale's words of appreciation
for all who contributed to the contests run this weekend.</DIV>

<DIV>Eric Sumner finally got us out of the box (with regard to contest courses)
and it worked great. So nice not to have to haul any more than 3 traffic cones
for a contest course! I liked too that I could easily create a 1/2 scale
rendition in my living room with sticky notes (An idea I borrowed from Dale
seeing him with sticky notes at RBNO).</DIV>

<DIV>The outdoor contest was great. Many thanks to Ed Okerson for bringing the
big canopy which provided much needed shade considering it was un
seasonally hot and humid day. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>David Anderson worked harder than anyone on this contest, literally to
the point of heat exhaustion by the end of the day -- spending the entire
day in the sun with only water to drink (he should be beaten for
that).</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>David's passion and dedication to robot building has
spurred many of us on over the years. His tireless efforts, in sharing
his knowledge, finding a venue for this contest, and working
this contest are greatly appreciated. </DIV>
