volts -- don't even mess with switching regulator.</DIV>

500 uF caps on input and output + a small inductor (100-200 uH), a Schottkey
diode, a few resistors including in some cases a low resistance shunt and a

available from Mouser for about 80 cents in quantities of 25. Current
rating about 500mA to 1.5A peek.</DIV>
