Howdy,
And speaking of the UMBMark and Outdoor Robot Challenges...
The Portland Area Robotics Society (PARTS) is holding their
very own version of the DPRG ORC this coming Sunday.
25 May 2008, at the Oregon Episcopal School.
Check out:

Robert Scheer, whom many of you met at the DPRG event
week before last, is the current PARTS president.
Robert's robot "Tarzan," built from a Traxxas EMAXX chassis,
took 3rd here in Dallas in challenge #1 and#2, and was the
only entry to successfully complete challenge #3, the obstacle
avoidance navigation challenge, by effectively negotiating two
large cardboard boxes set out between waypoints 1 and 2.
Robert has reserved an artificial turf soccer field for
the first 3 challenges, rather than an asphalt parking
lot, so it will be very interesting to see how the surface
affects the navigation behavior of the robots, and his
robot TARZAN in particular.
Good luck to Robert and all the participants in the
PARTS Outdoor Robot Challenges on Sunday!
best regards,
dpa
