David,
It was a pleasure to meet you last Saturday. Attached are a few photos
of the awards ceremony. Also, I have already added "fenders" to cover my
wheel encoders to keep sunlight from creeping in. I used the plastic
lids from CD-rom case cut down to size and painted black because, hey,
they fit the cd-roms right?. It entirely encases the cd-rom encoder disk
and photosensors. Seems to work so far. I am also adding an LCD display
(4 x 20) for user interface, but I was thinking of using a 10k pot
connected to one of the ADC inputs on the atmega8 as the input. The user
could just dial in the desired value representing the number(0 to 1024
for 10 bit resolution on the atmega8) to be the input into the program.
The number would be displayed on the LCD in real time until a single
pushbutton is pressed as an "Enter" key. If 0-1024 is not a wide enough
range, the number could be modified in the software after it is
"entered" to get it in the desired range. Probably been done before, but
seems like an easy way to enter numbers into the program with fewest
buttons.
Best regards,
--
