The original Vehicle is a 25+ yr old 2WD Kyosho Ultima with Kyosho
"hop up" Gold Shocks using the stiffest springs in the kit because I
have 2 heavy batteries on board. I didn't have any shock oil so the
front shocks are empty; there may be some in the rear; it really
wasn't that important; the springs and shock piston friction provided
suitable dynamics. Suspension arms and gearbox are original. Tires
are aftermarket (see link). The deck and roof are custom built from
foam core paperboard.
I'd say the platform size is just a tad small. My credit card-sized
MCU board barely fits in the cockpit. I will have to start mounting
any more electronics to the underside of the vehicle's roof making it
hard to access if anything goes wrong. Building a second deck is a
possibility.
