Another option is to use WUBI.

I know with the Hardy Heron release (8.04), wubi is right on the CD.
Wubi uses a file on the windows system as the hard drive under ubuntu.
This is an especially attractive option if you just want to test out
ubuntu. You then uninstall ubuntu by just removing the program and the
data file off of your windows machine.
