I normally do not have problems, but if I am worried about a close via
under the part, I have some insulating varnish I can paint on. It is
red, I think Fry's sells it. Or use a piece of Kapton tape between the
board and part.
If it is a through hole part, put a toothpick under the part while
soldering to keep it off the board.
