Hi. Anyone else ever characterize the RC Servo pulse length to
the rate the modified servo wheels turn? I just got done
characterizing the Hitec iRC Servos on my Mike III Mini-Sumo. I
was wondering if driving a modified servo into the region beyond
2ms and below 1ms might make it go faster yet.
So I wrote a program to drive the servo at varying rates from
stopped to fastest, back down through stop to lowest and back to
stop. I set the speed and waited half a second, then counted
ticks for another half second off of Wheel Watchers encoders,
and printed the results.
I was suprized (perhaps I shouldn't have been in retrospect) to
find out that the entire speed differences were well with in
standard operating range of 1mS to 2mS. In fact, above 1.7mS or
so, there was no increase and down to 1.1mS was not as abrupt or
linear, but was the limit to increased reverse speed.
I made a spread sheet of the results. If anyone is interested I
could send it. Or, do we have a common area for files to be
posted?
