[DPRG] Charging many sealed lead acid batteries at once

Hi everyone,
I've got ten or more "good" SLA batteries. I'd like to keep them
topped up, and also have them available for use. They are all in good
condition, but they are of varying ages. These are the common UPS
size (7 Amp-hours or so).
My question is this: Is it wise to parallel all of them to charge
them? Perhaps with blocking diodes? Or would I be better putting
them all in series and charging them that way.
I can draw power from them either way. I don't need a 13.6 volt
system or a ~130 volt system. I'd use switching power supplies to
produce whatever output I need.
I know how to care for a single battery, but how about groups such as this?
Thanks,
Ed
