During the meeting today at Warehouse rev.2 folks expressed interest in some
robot related products that came up in conversations. Instead of sending
private emails I'll post these links to the list so that anyone that is
interested can take a look:

Windows PDA as controller
-------------------------

Development environment: www.basic4ppc.com
 - Creates fast and lean compiled Basic exe for the desktop or PPC.
 - Develop on the PC and upload to PPC. Or develop (or fix) directly on
PPC.
 - High speed GUI interface development.
 - Support for mp3, GPS, FTP, Networking, Email, SQL, SMS, phone calls, File
I/O, Serial Port
 - Very short learning curve.
 - Includes IDE.
 - $49, with great support from the developer Erel Uziel
 - It is pretty easy to buy or make a USB / Serial cable for many PPCs.
 - The Pololu TReX motor controller would be an easy way to put that PPC and
cable to work driving motors. http://www.pololu.com/products/pololu/0777/

Chassis hardware, motors, PPC interface: Phenostream behavioral based
robotics

Carl Erickson has been revamping some products and the web site so it is
currently a bit difficult to see the 'big picture' behind this architecture.
The BuildPlate concept is a flexible way of creating unique rolling platform
designs without a machine shop. His new geared stepper motor includes an
encoder and a 20 Mhz ATtiny84. This palm-sized bot made with it looks
pretty interesting: http://www.phenostream.com/products/detail/sdh_01.aspx

MAKE Controller Kit
-------------------
http://www.makingthings.com/products/KIT-MAKE-CTRL

- SAM7X, ARM7, 55 Mhz
- Ethernet, USB, CAN, Serial, SPI, motor control
- Standalone or not
- 8 10-bit analog inputs
- 8 digital outputs. Drive 2 steppers, 4 DC motors, or 8 outputs with PWM
- Driver chips are socketed
