This is a little off topic but I'm cleaning up around the server room
here and ran across an old Lightwave server switch. This was designed
for switching 5 Sun servers through a single keyboard and monitor. It
uses the old-style Sun monitor D-connectors (the ones with three
embedded coax thingies). It's a 19" 2U rackmount case, has a push button
selector, and an amazing high-tech 7 segment LED readout. :) Like all
things related to Sun computers this cost a bajillion dollars new and is
essentially a worthless boat anchor now. The actual part number is:
Lightwave Communications, Inc.
ServerSwitch
300.000.5000
Anyone have a use for it? I'll bring it to next week's RBNO if anyone
wants it. Otherwise, it's the recycle bin...
