I was about to post about theo jansen's work, when I decided I'd search
first, and sure enough it was posted over a year ago.
I just found this video

explains his work, and I thought it'd be worth bringing up again.
Apparently, he designed his legs using a genetic algorithm running on an
Atari. Pretty cool stuff.
