Given the energy density of 9V batteries and their internal resistance,
ganging them up in parallel is generally a waste of time (by which I mean a
different solution will solve your problem within design requirements)
8 x Sub-C NMh batteries can give you 9.6v at up to 35 amps in a package that
is comparable in size volumetrically to about 6 or so 9V batteries in
parallel.
3x Lithium (9v nearly exactly) will give you better current than alkaline 9v
(and even NiCd 9v) with less volume than 3 9V batteries in parallel.
