Jeff, I sympathize with your intent, however thinking of it a
bit further, it is just as correct to say, no matter what you do
the universe remains largely unmoved.

Sometimes code is right, and you and the universe are incord.
Sometimes hardware is right, and you and the universe are
incord. Sometimes something is a little off, and you and the
universe are at odds. It isn't the universe that has changed in
any of this, if you get my meaning.

My larger point being, the little universe in our heads is the
one that is either in synch or out of wack with the big
universe. The little universe in our heads is the only one
available for modification.

Like-wise, I don't think there is any lack of ability on the
universe's part to allow us to have the human like robots we
might desire. Where then are repairs to start? On the big
universe, or our little, self-maintained, incomplete, copies?

Realizing the problem isn't with reality is the beginning of
changing reality, me thinks.
