Hello all,
I have a question about using the DPRG contest as a model for a set of
contest I am planning for my robotics students. I am planning a
"Robotics Playday" sometime in August. The idea is that I have about 6
BOEBots. I am going to have a weekend get together and break my
robotics students into teams. Each team will be given a BOEbot and some
basic programming help. They will have all a week to get familiar with,
and learn the basic programming of, the BOEbot. They will be encouraged
to meet during the week. Possibly there will be a Wednesday Q&A. Then
next Saturday will be the playday.
I plan to "steal" the T-time and the "there and back" competition. I
also am planning a three lap race as the last competition. The
competitions will be held in heats. Points will be awarded for winning,
completion of the task, and an interview with a random team member who
will be required to answer judges questions about the process.
Hopefully this will make sure everyone is involved at a level and
provide exciting races.
Does the borrowing of competition idea violate any club rules? Is it OK
if I tell everyone that I got the ideas from DPRG? I don't mind
plugging the club, in fact I want to. My ultimate plan is this summer
activity, the BEST competition in the fall and then some of the DPRG
competitions/meetings in the spring.
