Howdy,

Brian, I have not worked with the MaxBotics sensors, but I use
a pair of the Polaroid ultrasonic sensors on the SR04 robot, and
4 on the jBot robot. The nominal beam width of the Polaroid
sensors is about 15 degrees, and they are mounted pointing
forward and 7.5 degrees left and right, so that the inner edges
of the beams are aligned.

I have a short writeup about the SR04 implmentation, though it
mostly focuses on their use to locate soda cans in the old DPRG
TTime course, but it does describe the alignment and calibration
procedure:

For operation in a more standard navigation mode, SR04 simply
steers towards whichever side is longer.

Please keep us informed and let us know what you learn.

regards,
dpa
