[DPRG] Bristlebot

Not that I know of yet, I haven't seen a stearable bristlebot.

Of course that is the ultimate goal.

I've heard a few ideas, like the catamaran, or bristles than can
be flipped in orientation, of driving one motor, and letting the
other idle, and have the vibrating brush pivot around the still
brush. But it seems we are on the cutting edge of tooth brush
technology.

(I have an OralB electric. It has a rotatry head. I thought it
might be a commercially availabe bristlebot already in
production. However, it does jump around, but exhibits no
directionality as does the CrossAction ones.)

Is it possible/practical to make a steerable bristlebot? If
there are multiple vibrating motors and bristles in different
directions, then it could be controlled. Has anyone done this?

Yes, the cell and the pager motor are directly wired. I took
this assembly out of a previously assembled "frightened
grasshopper" solar kit. Less than $6 for all.

In the video you can see this on bounces and moves around a bit,
but has none of the speed and directionality of the bristlebot.

Saw another post (chibots list iirc) where someone had trimmed
the leads of the bristlebot down about 1/4 of their original
length to make it more stable. I can't imagine that is easy to
do and get even.

Randy,

Excellent! Did you wire the solar cell directly to the motor?
Where did you get the solar cell are you used?
