To answer David's question on kitting:
The 0.031" thick board dominates the cost. A quick quote from  
APCircuits is $4.40 each for quantity 100
Acroname has the sensor for $2.20
The capacitor and resistors together could be around $0.10

If my math is correct, that would be $13.40 for two. Of course,  
assembled boards would have to bear assembly costs.
These prices were pulled together rather quickly; a motivated  
individual could probably get better prices.
