After the Tanner's event this morning, Ed, Eric, and I drove up to the
warehouse to check out the damage caused by the lightning strike last
night. For those who haven't heard, we took a direct hit during the
thunderstorm that passed over Garland. A couple of people said they saw
the warehouse on the evening news. Apparently the fire department showed
up.
Most of the damage was to the powerlines, the meter, and the main
breaker box inside. We won't be able to assess damage to network gear,
computers, and test equipment until power is restored. There were plenty
of surge protectors around but I'm not sure how much help they are when
you get a direct hit. I took the Triton battery charge home with me and
tested it tonight. It seems fine, so maybe the other equipment survived
too if we're lucky. I haven't talked to Mike yet, but hopefully his side
of the building didn't suffer too much damage. (Mike, if there's
anything we can do to help out tomorrow or Monday, let us know!)
Anyway, I took a few photos in case anyone is curious:
