Can you give me some ballpark figures for the L and C values ?

What kind of motors have you tested the star filter against ?

You are correct, the motor leads should be as small as possible with
standard 0.01uF ceramics in standard noise suppression configuration.

I am also interested in inputs from others regarding this.

Perhaps shields would make the bot too expensive and heavy ?
Lightweight drilled shields are very expensive.
