I bought one last year, an E-flight Blade CX. It was a lot of fun,
but has gotten unstable, so I've got it taken apart and am securing it
and balancing it better.
I noticed on mine that after a few minutes of flight, it tends to
"shake apart" a bit, which throws the balance off. Securing the
battery better helped a lot.
I gave a little thought to autonomous (or assisted) flight - it's got
a gyro built in. I also gave some thought to a rangefinder pointing
straight up and to the sides to keep it from plowing into ceilings and
walls (admittedly, not the helicopter's fault).
