I really appreciate hearing about this. BTW, if there is going to be an
in-between or next event prior to next year I would love to hear about it
here and if possible drive down just to watch. And of course bring the
existing state of construction "as-is" on the current robot to share as
well. sorry I could not make this one, traveling for, "the man" again...
I did have a quite enjoyable overnight on the tile floor at the Chicago
Airport with about 3000 close (physical) bunk mates due to some tornado
activity in the area! ;-)

As I remember...
Steve from Houston walked around the course with his laptop and robot, not
sure if he was able to make the waypoints. The RAS boys from Austin ran
their robot manually and autonomously -- I don't think they completed
the course, but they seemed to get a lot of tweaking done. Steve Rainwater
got TankBot to run the first leg of the course, or part thereof, and
determined
he needed to calibrate its encoders more precisely. jBot ran the course
twice,
both times hit the first and second waypoints directly and stopped about 6-8
feet away from the third.
I thought it actually served as a pretty good practice session and
dress rehearsal for the next contest (as well as a chance for some
comraderie with fellow robot builders).
