This Saturday (Sept 9, 2006) SWARC (Southwestern Alliance of Robotic Combat) is having what may be their last big event. Yes I know they are not real "robots", but they are fun to watch. For those of you who do not know what SWARC is about, if you have ever seen Robot Wars or Battlebots, this is the same thing except in person and not on TV. There are weight classes from 150 grams up to 120 pounds. This event we have over 50 entries, with quite a few bigger weight class entries which are the more interesting (and loud) ones. There is a $2 entry fee but they are giving away some door prizes like "Make" magazines and "Servo" magazines which are sponsors of the event.
The event takes place at Mike's Hobby Shop in Carrollton (http://www.mikeshobbyshop.com). Mike's Hobby Shop is along the I35-E access road on the southbound side between Sandy Lake and Beltline road. It starts about 11 am and goes until about 11 pm.
