Seems like a good time for New Micros, Inc. to jump in and offer
some incentives for showing up this weekend. Previously, we've
given lots of large processors and H-bridges. I'm thinking there
might be something different we could do this time. So, here's
my offer to the club.
We've made a new line of small outline micros with several
different processors, and I don't think most folks know we've
got them. We call them the TiniXXX line. They're 1.0 x 1.3",
have 24 pins. They have the same legacy pin out as the stamps
and clones, but have a vertical profile, rather than laying flat
like a stamp. With an adapter in fact, they can plug right into
a stamp socket.
These boards are our TiniXXX line. We have 6 different versions
each with a different CPU. We have one with the popular
ATMega128, another with our favorite for motion control - the
DSP56F803, another has the extremely low power TI 430, and three
more with various NXP ARM processors, a couple with some very
impressive memory sizes.
You can see them here:

And here's a quick table of specs:
Board CPU Flash Ram Advantage
_______ ___________ _____ ___ _________
TiniAVR ATMega128 128K 4K General Purpose, support
languages
TiniPod DSP56F803 64K 4K Motion Control, Quads &
PWM
Tini430 TI 4301611 48K 10K Low Power
Tini2131 NXP LPC2131 32K 8K Small ARM
Tini2138 NXP LPC2138 512K 32K Big Flash, lots of
A/D
Tini2106 NXP LPC2106 128K 64K Big RAM
So we'll offer "your choice" of TiniXXX, with a JTAG adapter if
one goes with it, and BBA (adapter to fit a stamp socket) for
each of the five first place in the contest.
These TiniXXX's are really handy little boards to have around.
Particularly if you want to do a bit of multiprocessing, and
dedicate a separate processor to a particular task. I think
experimenters and hobbiests can find one they would like to
have. The cheapest one is the Tini2131 at $29, and I guess I'd
wonder why someone didn't take the $69 Tini2138, instead. But
most, with the additional pieces, total out around $100+. Anyone
who has run out of processing power or memory on a stamp can
find one of these they can plug in place of the stamp and really
extend their capabilities. Most of the processors have free C
compilers. Of course there's a ton of development software for
the AVRs. The ARM's are well covered. We'll include our
IsoMax(TM) and Small C for the DSP.
So, if the club agrees, we'll be on the hook for 5 Tini's w/JTAG
adapter and BBA to donate, about $500 retail value, to award to
the winners. You can give certificates, and we'll fill them with
what the winners want from the Tini's offered. So, club
management, let us know if you accept or not.
By the way, if anyone has an idea we need another processor, and
we can cram it into this tiny footprint, we'd be open
suggestions. We kind of thought we'd gotten the main processors
we could do this with. We were thinking 8051 variants and PIC's,
but they're pretty long in the tooth, and were well represented
in the existing stamps and clones. But if you know of another
processor that might fit, or think we really do need an 8051 or
PIC (i.e. you'd buy a few), let us know.
