I think this is pretty insightful. My opinion also. You need to
put yourself in your robots place. Imagine what you'd do in the
same situation.

Imagine yourself inside a sliding box on a football field. But
you can't see out of it, you can't feel anything through it. You
can't lift it up. 

You've got to go out on the field and grab something. You are
not supposed to bump into the arena walls.

How do you get around?

You follow the lines on the field. That will get you around the
edges, and across at every 10 yards. How do you search the area
where there are no lines? You count your steps. It's all you've
got. When you come to a line again, you correct for the angle
you approach it to decide how straight your steps were.

Be the robot, and lots of our silly notions about what we can do
deprived of our usual senses fall away.

Be the robot. What do you need to get the job done? Let it guide
you.
