Someone recently (on another Robotics-related list) posted about
great success using the glass tubes from eye-droppers for this.
Unfortunately I forgot which list (maybe HomeBrew?) -- I'll try
to find details. I think they found a whole bunch of the tubes
for cheap at some surplus outlet and ended up cutting each tube
into 2 or 3 smaller lengths to make more line genrating lenses.
I would expect almost any lab supply place to carry solid glass
rod in various diameters.
Is this for object recognition? Or navigation? Both?
