The recently popular Pittman motors are indeed of a low-detent or
low-cogging design; that's what the helical core buys us.
I would think that Schmidt trigger input processing should minimize, if
not eliminate, much of the jitter problem. The Hammatsu devices may do
that internally, keeping it from happening to David Anderson's legendary
SR04. :)
