I called James last night, and as usual got really hyped about
GARP (Wheel chair group bot). James has some great ideas about
GARP's open architecture. He'll be putting Molex connectors on
all of the control circuitry to the motors and power connectors.
That will allow us to change the control and power circuits at
will. There should be some sort of power bus with 12V
and 5V so that many things can hook into it. He mentioned that
the open architecture could also be for the ISA bus where we have
a RS485 card, a RS232 multiport card, and a simple I/O card so
that anyone wants to hook into the brain in any way can do it.
The designer of the perifreal would just give the interface specs
of their device to the one doing the PC brain. We talked about
so much more, but I can't remember it all right now. Get ready
to see GARP at the next meeting!!!
