I hope you do well on your project with these students.

I'm not sure what materials you are asking for. I may be able to direct
you to some locations on the internet that may be helpful. The NASA site
is very helpful. They've got pictures of the mars rover, and other info
about it. Also, the Discovery Channel web page recently put a nice article
on the internet that describes the mars rover in detail. There's a new place
on the internet that describes "fractal shape changing robots" that may
be interesting. You may also want to post your query to some other robotics
groups and to the comp.robotics.misc newsgroup as well. You can find a
bunch of links about these and other robotics on our "links" web page at:
http://www.dprg.org/links.html . Also, there's several organizations that
sponsor Junior high and high school robotics such as "Odyssey of the Mind"
and another one (can't recall the name at the moment) that you may want to
contact to see if they might be something yall are interested in. Plus
there's plenty of videos from The Discovery Channel and from The Learning
Channel that you might be able to obtain that would be helpful to your
group.

If you lived a little closer, I'd invite you to sit in on our meetings
(you're certainly welcome to attend, though). Can't remember if there's any
robotics groups in your area.
